Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 1, 2025
Gov Noodle LLC ("Gov Noodle," "we," "us," or "our") operates Traffic Noodle and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services.
We believe in transparency—it's core to what we build. This policy is written to be understood, not to obscure. If you have questions, reach out to us at hello@govnoodle.com.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Name and email address — to identify your account and communicate with you
- Organization name — to associate your account with your municipality or entity
- Password — stored using industry-standard encryption (we never store plaintext passwords)
API Credentials
To sync data from Traffic Logix, you provide your Traffic Logix API key. This credential is:
- Stored securely and encrypted at rest
- Used only to retrieve data from Traffic Logix on your behalf
- Never shared with third parties
Traffic and Civic Data
We collect and store traffic data synced from your Traffic Logix account, including vehicle counts, speed measurements, timestamps, and location information. This data is typically considered public record and may be subject to Freedom of Information requests in your jurisdiction.
For other Gov Noodle services, we may process additional civic data such as public meeting minutes, budgets, or other government documents. These are generally public records by nature.
Usage Information
We automatically collect certain information when you use our services, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent. This helps us improve our services and troubleshoot issues.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Sync and display your traffic data through our dashboard
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests
- Send service-related announcements (you cannot opt out of these)
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
Public Dashboards
Traffic Noodle allows you to create public dashboards that display your traffic data to the community. When you enable a public dashboard:
- The traffic data you choose to share becomes publicly accessible
- Your organization name may be displayed
- No personal account information (email, API keys) is ever exposed publicly
You control what data is shared publicly. This aligns with our mission of transparency—the same data your staff sees is what your community sees.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We use third-party services to help operate our platform (hosting, analytics, email). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business Transfers
If Gov Noodle is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Sensitive credentials (passwords, API keys) are encrypted at rest
- Our infrastructure is hosted on industry-leading cloud platforms
- Access to production systems is restricted and logged
No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to hello@govnoodle.com.
Data Retention
We distinguish between personal information and public record data:
Personal Information
Your account information (name, email, credentials) is retained while your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Traffic and Civic Data
Traffic data consists of aggregate, anonymous measurements (vehicle counts, speeds, timestamps) that do not identify individuals. This data is public record by nature and is often subject to government retention requirements rather than deletion requirements.
We retain traffic and civic data indefinitely to support historical analysis, trend reporting, and public transparency. This data may persist after account deletion as it serves the public interest and does not constitute personal information.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information (name, email, account credentials):
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate information
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal information
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
These rights apply to personal information. Traffic and civic data, as anonymous public records, are not subject to individual deletion requests.
To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@govnoodle.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you signed in to your account
- Remember your preferences
- Understand how you use our services (analytics)
You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, though this may affect functionality. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
