Founder
I'm Tom, the founder. I'm an elected official in my municipality, where I work closely with staff on day-to-day operations and the technology that supports them. That work makes the gaps impossible to ignore: we collect valuable information for the public good, but too much of it ends up locked away in spreadsheets, legacy tools, or reports no one has time to analyze. And when data isn't accessible or usable, transparency and trust suffer.
My career spans more than 20 years in software—starting in development, moving through cybersecurity, enterprise platforms, and now AI at Microsoft. Along the way, I've seen how technology succeeds or fails inside organizations, and how design and data accessibility shape real outcomes. Gov Noodle grew from that experience and from the problems I see firsthand in local government.
Why We Built This
Traffic Noodle started because we needed better insights from our speed data. The hardware worked; the reporting didn't. Years of information sat unused because the tools made analysis too slow and too manual. We built Traffic Noodle for ourselves first, and when it started helping us support grants like SS4A and communicate clearly with residents, we knew other municipalities deserved the same capability.
What We Believe
Local governments deserve software that's modern, reliable, and affordable—not the outdated systems or overpriced platforms they're usually offered. We're not a VC-backed startup or a giant vendor. We're municipal leaders, technologists, and community members who believe public data should serve the public.
We use Traffic Noodle ourselves, and now we're making it available to other municipalities facing the same challenges. Our goal is simple: help local governments turn their data into something people can see, understand, and trust.
